The Project

I need your thoughts on this and I would really love to hear from rescue groups too. I am planning a project to create a 2016 calendar. Photo sessions will start around Fall and run through Spring of 2015. The calendar will be put together and for sale mid-2015. I did calendars with Wish Bone Canine Rescue for 2 years so I am very aware at the undertaking of this task.

I am debating using rescue dogs because I would love to promote adoption. I love working with rescue dogs. I would like to be able to include rescue groups logos in the calendar and a short write up about each of the dogs. My concern is by the time the calendar would go out, the dogs will hopefully have been adopted.

I also want to stick with the theme of community in this project. I want several rescue groups if everyone agrees and percentage of the proceeds would go to the participating rescues.

If rescues are not used, I would like to use owned rescue dogs and ask that the dogs owner gives a donation to the project to help cover the cost of printing.

Either way this goes, I would need at minimum 13 dogs and it is crucial that these dogs are comfortable with public places. I also would not want to limit this to local rescues but rescues would have to be located in the state of Illinois.

Any and all feedback is welcome.

Thank you in advance!

Angel

Angel, I am right in the midst of doing exactly this project! I went to the homes of 13 pet owners... all pets were rescued from my local shelter. If you need a printer for the calendar, I recommend http://www.printingcenterusa.com. I'm dealing with them now and they're great. Have fun!

I love the idea. Giving that we are illinois based operation I think that it is a great idea. I have foster frogs all over illinois here and there. We would be willing to make a donation as a rescue group to help promote available and up and coming dogs.
Of course I would also make a donation to use my personal dogs.... Although they may want a crack at you in your studio this time..... ;)
I think available rescue dogs is the way to go.....

I would love to have both GABR and HSCI involved. I will be creating a business case soon with all the details that I will send out. Diane, I'll send one directly to you if you don't mind, so you can take it to the board. The theme is "Community".

Hi Angel - You may remember I am on the board for HSCI. We would be happy to participate! Even if the pet ends up being adopted by the time the calendar comes out, you'll be spotlighting the types of pets available at rescues and shelters. And sharing their stories will enlighten people about how pets end up needing a new home.

If you end up using owned rescue dogs, Cooper will work for kisses! :)

Reilly was a rescue from Whiteside County Animal control. You have my permission tho user one of his prints. I still think his story is an amazing one. Who would have ever imagined that her would live to be 23!
